Once a year, far out on a vacant expanse of the Nevada Desert, a most surreal city is constructed in the scorching heat. Dust Devils is a stylish and emotive documentary at the heart of the Burning Man experience and illustrates why people from across the globe return each year.
Covering consecutive years of Burning Man from 2001 to 2003, Dust Devils is a film by two Irish participants who capture spectacular images, magical music, candid interviews, and the impact of wonderful swirling columns of dust birthed by wind and intense heat as the 2002 Temple burned in the quiet of the night.
Through many interviews, this film illustrates the colorful energy and activity of everyday life in the Center Cafe, and offers extensive coverage of the very first Temple Burn by artist David Best. This film reveals the philosophy and experience which became a tradition of temple building at Burning Man each year.
Dearbhla Glynn and Aprile Blake are also directors of the film The Temple Builder.
